Bora Bora is an international tourist destination. Famous in this place is its aqua-centric luxury. The island has an airport in the north of Bora Bora Motu Mete, "Air Tahiti" provides daily flights to and from Papeete in Tahiti.
Today the island is dependent on its tourism. Over the last few years the resort has been built on the motu (small islands) surrounding the lagoon. Thirty years ago, Hotel Bora Bora built over-the-water bungalows. Their quality bungalows range from comparably cheap, basic accommodation for a very fancy and expensive place to stay during a vacation. Most of the tourist destination aquacentric, but there are other places to visit, in this place, on land such as World War II cannon.
Although French and Tahitian are the main languages spoken by the inhabitants, who are associated with tourists generally have some command of English. Most visitors to Bora Bora is the U.S., Japan, or Europe [citation needed]. Public transport on the island it is non-existent. Rent a car and bicycle is the recommended method of transport. There are also small fun-cars for rent in Vaitape. Snorkeling and scuba diving in the lagoon around Bora Bora is a popular activity. Many species of sharks and rays inhabit the surrounding water body. There are several dive operators on the island offering manta ray dives and shark feed dives.
